The City of Gresham has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a full-time Engineer 2 to join our Wastewater Collections Team in the Department of Environmental Services. The ideal candidate will have a professional engineering license, wastewater collection system project design and construction experience and communication skills to effectively work with citizens, contractors, consultants and City employees. As an Engineer 2, your typical duties may include medium to large wastewater collection system and wastewater pump station planning, design and construction management projects, provide collection system assessment and capital planning recommendations, evaluate the wastewater collection system for condition assessment and risk analysis, implement asset management strategies and prepare repair and replacement recommendations while ensuring we sustain our budgetary requirements. You will use your collaborative skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, outside consultants, contractors, public works inspectors and other stakeholders on capital projects and other activities. We desire someone who is highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Office, and can effectively use internal electronic systems to perform daily work. Your knowledge of rules, regulations and permitting associated with stormwater and wastewater systems will be highly valued. Your expertise related to wastewater collection planning, design, environmental permitting, construction management, asset management and public outreach will be utilized. We are looking for someone with demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills related to wastewater collection projects to join our team. Be mindful and intentional in creating equitable outcomes and opportunities through our policies and systems. Work schedule/environment: The current schedule for this position is full-time on-site. Employees work on-site/in the office for a minimum of 5 days per week. Knowledge of: Broad engineering principles, practices, methods, techniques, materials and equipment related to public works projects. Engineering project management and engineering contract administration. Computer applications and uses for engineering activities. Asset Management implementation, including preparing asset management Plans, Standards and reports. Inflow and Infiltration Program development and management Collection system Public Works standards and design criteria Ability to: Manage engineering projects effectively. Administer construction and engineering contracts effectively, assuring compliance with all standards and provisions. Design engineering projects of broad scope and complexity. Prepare clear and precise reports of a technical nature. Provide technical support and training in the uses of computers and software applications. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other government agencies, contractors, developers and the public. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field One (1) to four (4) years of professional engineering work experience preferably related to public works Professional Engineering License (PE) Valid Driver's License Good driving record (according to the City's driving matrix) Driving Matrix: You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions: A major traffic violation or accident that results in death or major injury. Driving under the influence (DUI) charge within the last 5 years. Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one-year period.
