Engineering Technical Support Specialist
Peraton is seeking skilled and qualified candidates for an Engineering Technical Support Specialist to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Engineering Technical Support Specialist works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Kansas City, MO. The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples include repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level. The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, and bulk mail processing systems. Our Engineering Technical Support Specialist performs detailed professional technical level work on electronic equipment and systems related to engineering. Specific tasks include: Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration or enhancement of technical products, programs and systems Provide expertise for resolving technical problems, troubleshoots product and modifies product to customer requirements. Includes software/Firmware systems and programs designed for customers Analyze engineering specifications and drawings; confers with quality and manufacturing to provide and obtain technical information; investigates reports of defective, damaged or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment or systems Examine, measure, inspect or test defective parts for conformance Evaluate findings to formulate corrective actions Independently plan and accomplish complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity and or serve as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field General knowledge of other related disciplines Complexity of assignments typically requires considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, and operational problems Make analyses and development of documentation/reports May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis May perform preliminary analysis of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as quantitative judgments concerning technical data Extensive contact with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal or external representatives concerning specifics operations Perform other related tasks as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 5 years related experience, Master's Degree with 3 years related experience or High School Diploma with 9+ years related experience. U.S. Citizenship Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance. Background in basic and advanced electronics, mechanical drawing, engineering fundamentals, with a comprehensive knowledge of technical terminology Systems understanding and interoperability Ability to troubleshoot systems Use test specification programs and fixtures Develop technical solutions to complex problems Familiar with electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Preferred Qualifications: Depot level repair experience Familiar with USPS maintenance operations Background in Systems and Test engineering Business acumen and contract experience Prior management experience in a Union environment Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 experience or training Green Belt Certified Physical Requirements: Sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects Physical activity may include forklift, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, and repetitive motion Have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment and to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
