Biomedical Equipment Technician III
Apex is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician III. Responsibilities include ensuring that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with Federal, State, and/or applicable regulatory requirements; implementing quality control standards and maintaining budget and vendor relationships. Other duties include repairing, installing, maintaining, calibrating, and inspecting complex medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems. Additionally, the role involves assigning routine repairs, inspections, and installations to subordinates and observing their performance, performing preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitoring completion of preventive maintenance activities performed by outside vendors (when applicable). The role also requires reviewing outcomes of preventive maintenance actions and making recommendations to department staff concerning improvements, performing complex technical inspections of new, used or reconditioned military medical equipment, and recommending new equipment and testing procedures. Necessary skills and knowledge include basic knowledge of biomedical equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to medical devices; strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical manuals and safety guidelines; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team; and effective communication skills to provide technical support and document service activities. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree is desired but may not be required if the minimum field experience requirement is met. Must have graduated from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course. Must have graduated from the Planmeca digital dental course no later than 12 months of contract award. Minimum 10 years of field experience (minimum of four years as a level II BMET) in managing: initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, repair of medical equipment, equipment acquisition, and safety within OEM guidance and local/state/federal regulations.
