Credential Evaluation Specialist

The Credential Evaluation Specialist serves as the primary position for transcript and credit evaluation at Whitworth University, ensuring the accurate assessment and application of transfer and alternative credits. This role maintains and updates transfer equivalencies and policies while upholding academic integrity in credentialing processes. In collaboration with the Registrar's Office, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, and faculty leadership, the Credential Evaluation Specialist coordinates credential processing for all student populations. Additionally, this position supports academic program updates, advisor assignments, and degree conferral processes, contributing to a seamless academic experience for students. Credential Evaluation & Compliance | 40% Administer the evaluation processes and approval workflows for test, transfer and alternative credits ensure the consistent evaluation of credit for all programs and students Review, enter and maintain transfer equivalencies in the Colleague system and update existing Monitor curriculum changes and update impacted course equivalencies in Colleague and other systems and review outdated transfer equivalencies as needed with academic leadership Coordinate evaluation and posting of credits for AP, CLEP, DANTES, and IB programs Research institutional accreditation, programming and curriculum to determine eligibility for transfer credit eligibility Coordinate with staff and faculty on all policy changes related to DTA agreements and articulation agreements. Oversee processing of Prior Learning applications and assessments Oversee university and department policies related to the evaluation of credentials New & Returning Student Evaluation | 30% Work closely with undergraduate day, adult continuing education and graduate admissions teams in the receiving, tracking and maintenance of incoming student transcripts using all credential receiving systems. Oversee upload processes for transcripts, transfer evaluation reports and program evaluations into Admissions systems. Advise Enrollment Management & Student Financial Services offices regarding alterative credits and transfer work and program requirements Provide guidance for admissions staff and advisors regarding transfer policies and practices for incoming students and training in basic preliminary credit evaluation Assist with the registration process and programs for all incoming first-year and transfer students Execute conversion of archived student records and transcripts into current academic units and apply previously completed coursework to current academic programs for returning students. Record Keeping | 15% Maintain historical and current records of all DTAs and academic MOUs for the university and the Registrar's Office. Maintain an up-to-date library of relevant AACRAO and other organization publications regarding transfer and alternative credit evaluation Maintain accurate policies for the equivalency of AP, CLEP, DANTES, and IB credit to Whitworth credit Maintain a listing of approved prior learning experiences for alternative credit Other | 15% Assist with program updates, advisor changes, approved programs exceptions and degree conferrals Provide guidance to current and admitted Whitworth students on transfer policies and processes. Coordinate with other registrar's office staff to prepare reports regarding transfer credits to aid university leadership in strategic decision making. Maintain expertise in technology as it relates to academic programs, evaluations, and degree conferral Provide support to the Registrar and other staff as assigned. Qualifications and Core Competencies An associate's degree is preferred, and Whitworth considers candidates with a wide range of educational backgrounds.
