The individual occupying this position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled trade duties in the maintenance and repair of Borough buildings, furnishings, and equipment, with an emphasis on electrical repairs. SALARY: 17A REPORTS TO: Maintenance Division Manager POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None Typical Duties
1. Perform a variety of electrical repairs and installations; install and test electrical motors, devices, fixtures, control equipment power distribution equipment, and wiring. 2. Maintain, inspect, and repair sophisticated electronic and digital fire alarm and security systems. 3. Maintain and repair HVAC and control systems. 4. Perform plumbing repair work on water, heating, sewer lines, and refrigeration. 5. Perform routine carpentry work. 6. Performs service and repair work on door hardware and lock equipment. 7. Maintain and repair boilers, furnaces, and burners. 8. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; initiate necessary requisitions for supplies procurement and maintain appropriate records. 9. Oversee contracted services and repair work on Borough owned or leased facilities. 10. Assists Division manager in reviewing design, submittal, and inspection of facilities construction projects. 11. Perform maintenance/system data input and retrieval from computers and computer controlled equipment. Position Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. Three years technical/apprentice training in the electrical field and four years' experience; OR a minimum of seven years of responsible work experience in maintenance and/or construction experience in facilities of similar use of various trades (i.e. pools, animal shelter, libraries, parks, ice rinks, office buildings, etc.) 2. Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver's license. Must meet insurance standards and maintain insurability under the Borough's insurance program. If personal automobile is used for Borough business, proof of automobile insurance at statutory limits must be provided. (A CURRENT COPY OF DRIVING RECORD WILL BE REQUIRED UPON REQUEST) 3. State certification of Fitness/Electrician Journeyman. 4. Prefer NICET Certification. 5. Capable of being contacted during off hours for call-in to handle emergency situations. 6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer using a variety of computer programs. Must be able to understand and operate an electronic work order system and provide equipment updates in the system. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Must be knowledgeable with diagnostic testing of controls systems, boiler systems, refrigeration systems, and electrical systems; experienced in performing major repairs, and knowledge in the use of specialized and standard tools and equipment. 2. Must be capable of performing tasks independently, comprehending equipment drawing, maintenance and operations manuals, diagrams and blueprints. 3. Ability to understand and execute written and oral instructions and work effectively with co-workers, supervisors and other job contacts. Ability to accurately complete written documentation of work performed. 4. Must be able to perform high work on ladders, boom trucks, and catwalks. OTHER 1. This position requires a criminal background check. 2. Ability to wear a respirator and pass a physical. Additional Information

JOB RESPONSIBILITY: Supervisor responsibilities: Directs workflow of permanent/temporary employees; experiences very little routine and often major problems with virtually no supervision; the consequences of error, carelessness or mistaken judgment require serious effort to recover. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Performs duty in a variety of conditions; generally unpleasant areas with the most disagreeable extremes of heat, cold, dirt, noise, fumes, etc., which are continuous and expose the employee to combinations of elements and factors; up to
of time is spent standing or walking; major health and accident/hazard risk; and requires sustained periods of heavy lifting, crouching, stooping or stretching, pushing or pulling (50+ lbs.).
