Environmental Claims Analyst

Reviews and evaluates claim reimbursement applications, cost pre-approval requests, and remedial action plans submitted by petroleum underground storage tank (UST) owners seeking reimbursement from the Financial Assurance Fund. Analyzes detailed environmental, technical and financial data; verifies statutory and regulatory compliance; and uses established cost databases to evaluate and approve financial data. Applies knowledge of corrective action work related to releases of petroleum product in soil or groundwater from USTs, and of state and federal laws, rules, regulations and standards relating to UST petroleum releases. Communicates verbally and in writing with tank owners and their consultants. Makes recommendations to the Executive Director concerning determinations of cost pre-approvals and claim reimbursements. Participates in the technical review and analyses of appeals, presents testimony at administrative hearings, and may present testimony in court. May perform field observations of remedial work in progress. Work Location: 4151 Executive Parkway, Suite 350 Westerville, OH 43081 Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental engineering or related area of study Three years of field experience in environmental geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering or comparable science field is desired Knowledge of Ohio's petroleum underground storage tank regulations, particularly corrective action is preferred Technical Skills: Environmental Services Geology/Hydrology Mathematical Ability Technical Documentation Technical Writing Professional Skills: Analyzation Attention to Detail Critical Thinking Interpreting Data Written Communication All applicants must either attach a resume and cover letter, or mail this information to Personnel, Petroleum UST Release Compensation Board, P.O.
