Transfer Academic Advisor (Part-Time)

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Transfer Coordinator, the Part-time Transfer Advisor will provide student support regarding transfer from Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to 4-year universities, as well as support the planning and execution of transfer events on campus. This position will be student-facing, working in the University Transfer Center to support student questions and appropriately refer students to advisors within specific program areas. The Part-time Transfer Advisor will also work with admissions representatives at partnering institutions to understand and promote student transfer and student success opportunities, including transfer cohort programs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
1. Provide support for students coming to the University Transfer Center: answer questions about next steps for graduation, transfer, and student success resources at partnership institutions. 2. Support with the planning and execution of transfer events on campus. 3. Provide general advising and assistance to help students understand the requirements for all SLCC degree, continuing education, certificate, and completion programs. 4. Meet with students within transfer cohort programs, including Path to the U, being their main point of contact once they are admitted into the program. 5. Advise and assist students in becoming aware of their values, interests, abilities, and clarifying their academic and career goals. 6. Advise students in understanding transfer programs to four-year institutions and assist them in developing an efficient transfer plan. 7. Make referrals to campus and community resources. 8. Work with peer leaders within Academic Advising Office. 9. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. One year of full-time, paid related work experience. (Part-time experience will be considered on a prorated basis). Work experience can be traded for education at a 2:1 ratio (2 years of education equals 1 year of related full-time experience). Education can be traded for work experience at a 2:1 ratio (2 years of full-time work experience is equivalent to 1 year of education). Preferred Qualifications
