Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center (OASC) is a busy outpatient surgery center seeking a professional and energetic experienced Full-time Sterile Processing Technician that can work 8-hour shifts from 2:30pm to 11pm. About Us

Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. Sorts sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner. Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas. Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment. Maintains a clean work area. Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards. Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills. Orthopedic experience preferred. Total Joint experience preferred. Educational Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent. Proficiency and understanding of medical terminology that accompanies the SPD department. Must have SPD certification. Licensure/Certification

Sterile Processing & Distribution Certification. Special Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Standing or walking most of the day. Sufficient mobility and strength to move throughout department and lift heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushing and pulling sterilizer carriages, case carts and wire supply carts. Heavy lifting or bending associated with decontaminating soiled instruments, laundry placement and garbage from the Operating Room. May be exposed to blood, sharp objects, and infectious diseases.
