Systems Administrator
Peraton is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals. The Systems Administrator works at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Central Repair Facility (CRF) in Topeka, KS. The CRF is a depot repair facility for USPS mail processing, delivery, and bulk mail systems repairable parts. Examples: repairing printed circuit boards, electrical, electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies to component level. The CRF provides depot level maintenance for essential automation, mechanization, retail and bulk mail processing systems used in all mail processing and retail installations. Our Systems Administrator maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency. Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts. Specific tasks include: Setting-up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space Interacting with users and evaluates vendor products Making recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems (or equivalent work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree) with 2 years demonstrated work experience (or equivalent combination of training and professional work experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.) U.S. Citizenship Public Trust security clearance required to start Experience with the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization Installation and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes Installation of network devices and cabling Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to resolution Be able to determine and provide technical specifications for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Software Experience: Windows Server 2008 / 2016 / 2019 2022 Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / 2014 / 2017 / 2019 Windows 10 / 11 Microsoft Internet Information Server Microsoft Professional Office Suite VMWare / Hyper-V Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in the following areas: O365 CompTIA A+ CompTIA Server+ Microsoft Professional Series Microsoft Developer Studio 2015 / 2019 / 2022 Experience coding TSQL in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. Experience with Linux server administration. Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 experience or training Physical Requirements: Physical activity may include reaching, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motion Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
