$26.04 - $33.85 Job Description Summary

Open Until Filled Weld County is looking for a Vehicle Upfit Technician to build Sheriffs Office and Public Works vehicles. Equipment being installed includes emergency lights, sirens, two-way radios, mobile data, communication equipment, and aftermarket equipment into passenger vehicles and light trucks for law enforcement and utility applications. Public Safety vehicle installation background preferred but not required. Candidate must possess own basic tools such as sockets, wrenches, and pliers. Candidate will communicate updates and issues on a regular basis with department head. Job Description

The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the position. Perform installation of specialized equipment. Test/troubleshoot specialized equipment. Disassemble the interior and exterior of new vehicles (seats, carpeting, flooring, dash and interior panels, headliners, lights to prepare vehicle for installation of new systems. Complete installations for diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including sedans, SUVs, commercial trucks, and heavy machinery. Work out minor damage in body panels, fenders, skirting and sheet metal trim, and weld torn metal. Remove and install bolt-on components such as hoods, deck lids, fenders, trim, doors, glass and interior components, and verify dimensional accuracy. Remove and recover specialized equipment from end of life vehicles. Maintain and track materials for jobs. Maintain safe, clean, and orderly tools and work area. Complete all required paperwork and documentation. Follow policies, procedures, and the Weld County Code of Conduct. Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both. Qualifications and Skills: A good understanding of 12 VDC electrical systems for installing accessories. Maintain an orderly and clean working environment, keeping the installers area organized. Must have a general knowledge and ability to read electrical diagrams. Experience or knowledge of the following a plus: Vehicle Audio Systems Mobile Video Systems Vehicle Remote Starters Vehicle Security Systems Valid Driver's license

with acceptable driving record. Able to operate and maneuver trailers. Understanding and ability to operate small powered and manual hand tools and equipment. Must pass, and maintain the ability to pass, a thorough background check at any time during employment with Weld County. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and reports. Ability to write routine reports and simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present and communicate information in one on one and small group situations. Ability to learn and follow safety precautions common to labor positions. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Ability to illustrate and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed yet straight forward written and/or oral instructions. Ability to respond to and solve problems involving several variables in standard situations. Ability to utilize reference skills to locate accurate information quickly with minimal resource. Ability to function independently as well as in a team environment to complete all necessary duties. Must be able to work in tight locations, awkward positions, tolerate frequent bending or stooping, and stand for extended periods.
