The Montgomery College, Adult ESOL & Literacy-GED Special Programs, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching In-person Digital Literacy classes in an educational setting located within a correctional facility. This particular teaching opportunity is part-time and is located at the Pre-Release Center in Rockville, MD. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Digital Literacy teachers who exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. ***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a

Duties and Responsibilities: Montgomery College is seeking an adjunct instructor for its in-person Digital Literacy classes in an education setting located within a correctional facility. The instructor will be responsible for: Teaching all areas required for inmate orientation to Digital Literacy requirements and resources at the Pre Release Center (PRC) such as: Identify the major hardware components of a personal computer and describe how these components work together when using a personal computer. Describe the purposes of a Windows operating system and how it is used to prepare folders, save copy, move and delete files, and access storage devices at the PRC. Understand and comply with the ethical and legal rules affecting the use of computers at the PRC and upon re-entry into the community. Use Microsoft Word to prepare resumes and cover letters in job search efforts. Use Microsoft Excel to prepare a cash management budget to track and monitor and assess the status of personal finances. Understand and demonstrate how to use the Internet to efficiently perform job searches. Obtain a working e-mail account that can be used in job search efforts at the PRC. Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives. Abiding by all College policies and procedures. Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the Montgomery County Department of Corrections. Required Qualifications: B.A. Education or related field. A minimum of 2 years teaching. Experience working with a diverse population, preferably in a correctional setting. Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective digital literacy instruction to adult learners. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion. Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*.
