Principal SAP Engineer

Full Time Perm Way of Work: Hybrid Salary: $129,500 - $194,300 plus 10% annual bonus Location: Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN Relocation Assistance to Columbus Provided The Principal SAP Engineer in the NiSource IT department is a leadership role responsible for driving the delivery and continuous improvement of technical solutions that support key work asset management platforms. This role involves hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the charge in ensuring that our technical solutions align with strategic business goals and drive innovation within the organization. The Principal SAP Engineer at NiSource IT department is a leadership role focused on driving the delivery and continuous improvement of technical solutions for SAP platforms. This position involves hands-on development, technical guidance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software solutions. The Principal SAP Engineer leads large transformation programs, aligns technical solutions with strategic business goals, and stays updated with industry trends to drive innovation within the organization. As a Principal Engineer you will lead a team of up to 30 members across multiple workstreams, ensuring efficient, and effective project execution. Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance in the design and development of solutions for SAP platforms Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement software solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of these platforms Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews and ensure that solutions meet quality standards and best practices Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing support and maintenance for existing systems Innovation: Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement in platform solutions Technical responsibilities: SAP SAP BASIS: Knowledge of SAP system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting SAP HR: Experience with SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) modules SAP Security: Expertise in SAP security concepts and user management SAP Functional: Proficiency in SAP MM/QM, PM modules SAP Financial: Experience with SAP FI/CO modules You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience 10+ years of experience in SAP development and implementation 3+ years of experience utilizing ABAP source code Experience as a technical lead, leading large transformation programs, and aligning technical solutions with strategic business goals Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field Professional certifications in relevant IT areas (e.g., SAP) Experience in a similar industry or sector The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position.
