About the Role:
The Advanced Machinist plays a crucial role in the steel manufacturing industry by operating and maintaining various types of machinery. This position requires precision and attention to detail, as the machinist will be responsible for laying out and planning the cut path, monitoring the machining process, and adjusting feeds and speeds as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required 6+ years machining (mill, lathe, saw, or boring machines) experience with large steel forgings required Must be able to communicate in English Must be able to read and use and tape measure Must be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs Preferred Qualifications: CNC (mill or lathe) experience a plus MDI experience a plus OSHA or Machining certifications a plus
Responsibilities: Operate overhead crane for loading and unloading machines Layout and plan cut path Determine proper tooling Monitor machining process and adjust feeds and speeds as necessary Manage chip generation and maintain clean work area (sweeping and shoveling required) Measure final pieces using rulers, pi tape, dial indicators, and calipers Complete documentation via paper or electronic format Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
