We are looking for this role to be present in either the New York tri-state area, Dallas, TX area, or Philadelphia, PA area, and relocation is not provided. If you do not live in these areas, you will not be considered for this position. The Controller plays a vital role in managing the financial operations of Mod Op. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can oversee all accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide strategic financial guidance to drive the business forward. The Controller will work closely with senior management to support financial decision-making and will be responsible for the company's financial reporting integrity. Key Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and expense management. Ensure accurate, timely monthly and year-end financial close; prepare agency-wide and departmental financial statements. Manage and reconcile revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606 for project/client-based billing. Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure efficient business processes. Lead agency budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with senior leadership and department heads. Manage cash flow, including forecasting, monitoring liquidity, optimizing working capital, and overseeing banking relationships and treasury functions. Oversee client billing, work-in-progress (WIP), media reconciliations, and revenue reporting. Manage vendor payments, contract reviews, and facilitate accurate client invoicing. Lead purchase price accounting and integration for acquisitions, including valuation of intangible assets, allocation of purchase consideration, and preparation of opening balance sheets. Support due diligence, financial modeling, and post-acquisition integration activities for mergers and acquisitions, partnering with executive leadership and external advisors as needed. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual agreements. Lead preparation for annual audit and coordinate with external auditors. Maintain all required business licenses and registrations. Evaluate and implement accounting systems and technologies. Drive efficiency through process automation, workflow enhancements, and policy updates. Demonstrate active interest in and advocate for the responsible use of AI and emerging technologies in finance and accounting operations to optimize accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making. Leverage knowledge of NetSuite and SuitePro to optimize accounting workflows, customize financial reporting, and ensure seamless integration of agency financial operations.
