Description: Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging department. Perform high-quality images and exams on patients while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs. Follow standards of safe radiation practice. Demonstrate leadership abilities and serve as a role model for other associate technologists. Effectively assist physicians in performing a variety of highly specialized cardiovascular procedures including, but not limited to, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies. Perform imaging procedures while ensuring safety for self, patients, and all other individuals. Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to as low as reasonably achievable. Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Provide information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding procedures and respond to their physical and emotional needs. Assist patients during exams and properly position them. Observe patients and equipment during procedures and report/document unusual occurrences, recording the patient's condition. Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources. Communicate in writing and verbally with all physicians, imaging personnel, students, and other staff to facilitate the continuum of care. Assist with patient transport as needed. Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required. As assigned by management, perform technologist duties of other registered modalities. Be able to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department or facility policy. Correctly input charges and required data for procedures and supplies utilized during exams. Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed. Prepare rooms, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams. Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary. Notify supervisors of equipment problems and log service calls/problems per department procedures. Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients. Maintain quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation as per department procedures. Proactively identify problems and follow up with appropriate management personnel. Maintain a high skill level through ongoing education and meeting attendance and share information with staff. Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, and online education. Actively participate in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives. Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Contribute to accreditation as requested. Demonstrate effective time management and be proactive in prioritizing workload to meet productivity requirements. Evaluate and document patient status and respond appropriately; intervene or refer in a timely manner to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Reflect clinical expertise, competence, and proficiency based on knowledge and skills while exceeding essential job responsibilities. Effectively and safely use equipment, time, personnel, and supplies to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care delivery. Adapt to changing workloads, patient needs, technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing through prioritization and flexibility. Floating may be required to other locations within a specified distance from the original assignment. Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
