Developmental Specialist

The Developmental Specialist evaluates members in assigned caseload, develops and implements member Day Habilitation Service Plan (DHSP), provides for service needs and program objectives and acts as a resource for members, families, funding sources and program staff. Duties will include direct supervision and training of members and participation in their program activities, within all environments, behavioral plan implementation, direct care responsibilities and others.

Full Time Positions Available! Develop and provide constructive input into member's Service Need assessments, goals/objectives, DHSP and methods for implementation; support choices in program planning in accordance with DHSP; actively participate in case conferences, support planning, DHSP and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meeting. Act as a resource to members, families, referral and residential staff. Maintain positive relationship with referral agencies. Actively participate in in-take and orientation process for new members. Assist in planning transitions, including adhering to established transition schedules/timelines, reporting progress/challenges, and all completing all required documentation. Ensure implementation of member's DHSP goals/objectives & corresponding data collection. Document monthly progress notes. Instruct, counsel and supervise members in skill areas to include, but not limited to: self-help, independent living, communication, socialization, sensory-motor, affective and behavioral skills, wellness, safety, and self-advocacy in accordance with DHSP, and member's and group schedules. Assist members to achieve goals/objectives by maintaining knowledge of member's learning styles, strengths and need areas; maintain a normalizing, learning environment. Ensure paraprofessionals are actively engaging members in accordance with their specific learning styles, at all times. Participate in and ensure paraprofessionals are adhering to members and group schedules with timely start and end times for each activity. Ensure that member's support strategies in goal/objective development are adhered to at all times. Participate and ensure an active treatment environment for all members in accordance with member's and group schedules, DHSP goals/objectives and programming needs, at all times.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of work experience in a healthcare or developmental disabilities setting.

Other Qualifications:

- Strong writing skills

Demonstrated effective communication skills.

- Must maintain a current, valid Massachusetts or Rhode Island Driver's License.

- MAP certification

Preferred Qualifications : First Aid and CPR Certification. Experience in principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Positive Behavior Supports (PBS), and Community Inclusion. Experience in providing services to individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities
