DMG is actively recruiting for a
Gastroenterology NP
to join our Internal Medicine Department. The GI NP will, in collaboration with physician(s), provide daily patient care as part of a health care team, involving assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patient problem(s), physician examinations, emergency care, referral, and patient education at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) or at one of its FQHC locations, as directed by the Department Chair and/or Section Chief.
Travel between Phoenix and Peoria clinics is required; primary site location will be Peoria clinic. Responsibilities include : Identify health needs of patients through systematic assessment, utilizing professional skills, health history, physical evaluation, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic tools. Develop and record a plan of care which acknowledges the patient’s needs and priorities. Participate in educational programs to prevent illness and promote, maintain, or restore health. Participate in health promotion efforts. Apply epidemiological methods for disease control. Participate in case conferences with physicians. Prescribe medication as appropriate. Perform laboratory tests as appropriate. Perform developmental screening of patients. Refer patients to specialized physicians as appropriate for further specialty evaluation. Perform other duties as requested. Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, staff, departmental, or programming matters. Document Patient/Provider interactions according to VHMC/DMG protocols. Participate in all reviews by the Collaborative Physician.
