Service Guard General
The City of Detroit's Department of Transportation (DDOT), Risk Management Division, is currently accepting applications for Service Guard(s). Under general supervision, patrols and guards municipal property against trespass, vandalism, sabotage, fire, and theft, averts disorderly conduct on municipal property and provides other safety services. Examples of Duties: Guards and patrols building and grounds. Guards equipment and property. Observes, detects and intervenes to deter and disrupt illegal, unauthorized or dishonest activities and practices. Maintains order in crowds and disperses unauthorized gatherings. Intervenes to resolve disturbances involving tenants or visitors. Coordinates activities during emergencies or accidents. Apprehends and detains disorderly persons or wrongdoers and summons proper authorities as circumstances dictate. Discourages littering; encourages proper use and treatment of facilities; and reports safety hazards and unsanitary conditions. Places barriers, lanterns, flares or flags to alert persons to hazards. Prepares written reports of activities and conditions observed. Minimum Qualifications: High School graduation or G.E.D. Six months experience as a security guard. Candidates considered for placement in this classification may be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation based on the requirements of the position.
