Barr Engineering Co. The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Responsibilities include integrating process, mechanical, and control requirements into electrical systems, completing calculations and analyses, developing design details, preparing drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates, selecting equipment, writing proposals and reports, and communicating with clients. Projects involve power and controls for power plants, refineries, mining facilities, municipal water and wastewater facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. Short-term, out-of-town assignments may be required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with coursework focused on power or control systems 2 years of relevant experience Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word Strong communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a high-energy environment Flexible schedule and willingness to modify personal schedule to meet deadlines Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Preferred Qualifications
Design experience on relevant projects, preferably in consulting engineering or industrial organizations 3+ years of relevant experience Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes Power distribution experience Experience with PLC configuration and programming (Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric) Experience with protective device coordination, short-circuit studies, arc flash analyses (SKM, ETAP) Experience with motor control, lighting, grounding, conduit plans, cable sizing Project management skills Knowledge of applicable codes and standards Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year This position offers a hybrid work arrangement based out of Minneapolis, MN. The salary range is $76,000–$95,000/year, with potential bonuses and benefits as described. Applicants must be able to work in industrial environments and pass safety and drug screening as required.
