Intellectual Ventures (IV) is a privately held invention investment company based in Bellevue, Washington that is driven by the belief that we can change the world through the power of invention. The Scientific Instrument Manufacturing and Testing Group (SIMTG) at the IV Laboratory is the physical manifestation of the invention culture that thrives at IV. With a broad array of designing, manufacturing, testing, and mechatronics capabilities under one roof, the SIMTG team is outfitted to bridge the gap between early-state ideas and proof-of-concept demonstrations taking invention out of the laboratory and into the marketplace. The Scientific Instrument Manufacturing and Testing Group (SIMTG) create and enable innovative development in technology, engineering, manufacturing, and science. The SIMTG provides expertise in machine design, prototype manufacturing, embedded real-time software, electro-optics systems, sensor data acquisition, and test support. A broad range of technologies is supported in the SIMTG Machine Shop including: Manufacturing Welding Mechatronics Testing and qualification 3D printing Rapid prototype fabrication SIMTG services include mechanical design, simulation, manufacturing, and testing using industry leading software and equipment. Our fully equipped Machine Shop houses a broad range of high-quality equipment including 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, Wire EDM and hole popper, CNC lathes, CNC waterjet, 3D printers, and CNC press brake. A thoroughly outfitted Electronics Shop for developing electro-mechanical and testing devices compliments the machining capabilities to provides a single environment to bring every concept to life. Role Overview The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in expanding SIMTG's market presence by identifying and securing new business opportunities. This individual will leverage their industry connections to find customers who will hire SIMTG for contractual services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development within the technology, engineering, or manufacturing sectors and a proven track record of driving revenue growth. Key Responsibilities Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand SIMTG's client base. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including potential clients, industry partners, and internal teams. Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities within the technology, engineering, and manufacturing sectors. Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients. Negotiate and close contracts with new clients, ensuring alignment with SIMTG's capabilities and goals. Collaborate with the SIMTG team to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction. Monitor and report on business development activities and results to senior management. Key Qualifications and Required Skills Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the technology, engineering, or manufacturing sectors. Proven track record of successfully securing new business and driving revenue growth. Strong network of industry contacts and the ability to leverage these connections to generate new business. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to think strategically and develop innovative business development strategies. Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct market research and analyze data. Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Desired Skills Experience working with scientific instruments, manufacturing, or testing services. Familiarity with the capabilities and services offered by SIMTG, including machining, welding, electronics and testing, 3D printing, rapid prototype fabrication, and assembly.
