As a
Staff Backend Software Engineer,
youll provide end-to-end support to applications and identify ways to improve codebases, solutions to complex problems, and effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes. Youll make recommendations on overall application system designs, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance.

What is your background?
We are looking for experienced and technically strong engineers who are excited about solving complex problems, shaping architecture, mentoring others, and driving technical excellence across teams.
You should have:
7+ years of backend application development experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Proven experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems and service-oriented architectures. Strong expertise in object-oriented and strongly typed languages such as Java and TypeScript (or equivalent general-purpose languages). Deep understanding of data storage technologies; experience with AWS Aurora (or equivalent RDBMS), DynamoDB (or other NoSQL databases). Strong expertise working with AWS resources such as SNS, EventBridge, S3, ECS, Api Gateway Experience with ops-friendly frameworks for building robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs (e.g., Spring Boot, DropWizard, etc.). Expertise in building and maintaining Gitlab CI/CD pipelines and scalable deployment workflows. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDK, SAM, etc.) is a strong plus. Experience working on event-driven architectures with tools like Kafka, Kinesis, queues. A track record of owning and operating production systems at scale, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis. Ability to provide architectural guidance and evaluate trade-offs around performance, cost, and long-term maintainability. Passion for mentoring and developing other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical design sessions. Clear communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels. A mindset of continuous improvement, experimentation, and data-driven decision making. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related fieldor equivalent professional experience.
What is the work? (Technical Leadership & Delivery)
Serve as a technical lead and architect for backend systemsdriving design and implementation of critical services. Proactively influence and align engineering direction across multiple teams and projects. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, security, infrastructure, and front-end engineering to deliver end-to-end solutions. Lead high-impact initiatives focused on scalability, resiliency, performance, and cost optimization. Design, build, and evolve services and APIs using modern technologies (e.g., Java, TypeScript, Docker, AWS, Terraform). Guide the adoption of best practices in software design, testing, observability, and continuous delivery. Lead technical reviews of architecture, code, and infrastructure to ensure quality and maintainability. Drive incident response and participate in blameless postmortems, champion reliability engineering practices. Identify technical debt and work with leadership to prioritize long-term investments. Author and maintain technical documentation, architectural decisions, and standards for reuse across teams. Coach and mentor senior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow into larger technical roles. Contribute to team culture and practicesfostering an inclusive, curious, and growth-oriented environment.
