Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Scientific Officer to provide technical assistance with the development, optimisation, and processing of complex organoid experiments in collaboration with group members within the Centre. The successful candidate will also help with the production and quality control of growth factor conditioned media to facilitate organoid culture experiments at scale and support the scientific activities of the organoid facility. Responsibilities include contributing to the daily running of the facility, assisting with record keeping, purchasing, and other routine duties. Support for other facility staff may be required. Full training will be provided.

About you

The ideal candidate must have:

• BSc in biological sciences
• Previous cell culture experience, preferably including methods of 3D cell culture

The Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre in the Division of Breast Cancer Research is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research. Our goal is to advance research in the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer. The Centre is located in state-of-the-art laboratory space, supported by excellent core facilities, and funded through a long-term renewable programme grant from Breast Cancer Now.

The Translational Research Support in-vitro modelling team provides expertise and supports experimental design for scientists across the division to enable patient-derived organoid (PDO) models for translational studies, aiming to identify and characterise targets and biomarkers for breast cancer treatment.
