Mechanical / Aerospace Design Engineer

Mission first

Hospitals lose transplant organs because traditional logistics can’t keep up. Haast builds full-stack, autonomous aircraft to change that. We’re looking for an engineer who can turn rough sketches into flight-proven hardware - fast.

Your impact

• Own airframe optimization: lift-to-drag, structural weight, and manufacturability.
• Drive CAD (Fusion 360 / NX / SolidWorks) from concept to tooling release; keep files clean for the next sprint.
• Run FEA & CFD to validate designs, then prove them in the shop with 3-D prints, composite manufacturing, and quick fixes that fly the same week.
• Pair with autonomy & avionics teams to integrate batteries, sensors, and payload bays that keep organs at 4 °C in turbulence.

We’ll vibe if you…

• Have holistic understanding of airframe design process and have an open, innovative mindset.
• Have hands-on scars from milling, composites, or field repairs at 2 a.m.
• Can explain a Von Mises plot and a P-T stability requirement to non-engineers in the same meeting.
• Believe “done > perfect” but know when safety margins are non-negotiable.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience at Zipline, Archer, Pyka, Joby, Boom Supersonic, or similar.
• Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, FAA Part 135, or ISO 14971 risk management.
• Git-style CAD workflows or simulation automation in Python.
