Who Are We
We are a global community that is driven by the creative spirit of Los Angeles. Through an inspiring mix of music, news, and culture, we bring joy and connection – online, in-person and on the radio. Always excellent, accessible, and often unexpected, we are a constant source of fuel for the imagination, education and good vibes. At least, that is what our members tell us.
As NPR’s flagship member station in Southern California for more than 30 years and a community service of Santa Monica College, KCRW is the next generation of public media.
How You’ll Make An Impact
As KCRW evolves from a beloved public radio station to a multi-platform media and culture club, the way we connect people to KCRW and each other in real life is more vital than ever.
KCRW is seeking a visionary, strategic, and deeply connected Events Director to lead our evolving live events strategy. As events become a primary engine for audience growth, cultural relevance, and community impact, this role is central to shaping how KCRW shows up in the world—physically, experientially, and memorably.
You will set the direction for our events portfolio, overseeing concept to execution to evaluation—from large-scale partner activations and free community happenings to ticketed experiences. The Events Director will drive innovation, lead a high-performing team, and cultivate the ecosystem of partners and collaborators needed to deliver standout experiences that entertain, engage, and convert.
Success metrics include new leads via RSVPs, new member acquisition, event attendee and partner satisfaction, press hits, time to hit RSVP capacity, event revenue, and geographical impact.
Reporting to the Chief Audience Officer, the Events Director will continually evolve our events portfolio to stay relevant and contemporary, to align with broader organizational goals, and to provide opportunities for current and future members to fall in love with the KCRW curatorial ecosystem.
Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Drive a culture of innovation, data-informed experimentation, and excellence in execution.
  • Serve as the central point of coordination between internal stakeholders and external partners.
Partnerships & Community
  • Leverage and grow a robust network of cultural and brand partners to co-create events that connect people to us and each other around the spirit of Los Angeles.
  • Represent KCRW in public and industry spaces, strengthening our presence in the local and national cultural landscape.
  • Manage event execution of co-presenting and sponsorship opportunities that support program sustainability.
Business & Operations
  • Own the events budget, ensuring financial targets are met through smart forecasting, cost controls, and revenue strategy.
  • Design experiences that scale—balancing free, mission-aligned access with high-value, ticketed events that drive support.
  • Establish repeatable operational systems and playbooks across the events pipeline.
Here’s What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum 7 years leading event strategies for cultural, media or brand organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver experiences that drive measurable audience or community growth.
