The Vice President, Real Estate Finance is a leadership role responsible for property and development accounting and financial reporting. This individual will report to the CFO, collaborate with executive and asset management teams, and manage a department of real estate and operational accountants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the compilation and consolidation of financial reports, including financial statements, property operating statements, and budgets.
- Oversee the annual property budgeting process, collaborating with regional asset management teams.
- Track risk and investment strategies, providing accurate reports to the executive team and regional SVPs, and monitor the financial health of the company.
- Review legal documents such as leases, vendor agreements, development and construction agreements, loan documents, and partnership agreements for compliance.
- Oversee accounting for fixed asset additions, dispositions, and depreciation under book and tax methods.
- Develop and implement accounting policies complying with governmental regulations and GAAP.
- Work closely with asset management teams to provide reporting that highlights regional contributions to the company's bottom line.
- Manage the construction loan draw process for development projects.
- Handle tenant receivables and accounts payable processes.
- Manage lender relations, communication, and reporting.
- Assist in preparing materials for quarterly board meetings.
- Ensure smooth operation of Yardi Job Cost and Construction Manager modules for accurate expense tracking.
- Assist with special projects, including ad hoc reports and regional reporting improvements.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements within the team and functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop a team of senior and junior property accountants, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and addressing issues.
Use accounting expertise to develop team members and ensure staffing levels meet reporting deadlines.

Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s preferred.
- 10+ years of real estate accounting experience, including 5+ years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial benchmarking, audit, tax compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Experience with fiscal management, resource assessment, and federal/state tax laws.
- Experience in consolidated financial reporting and team leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Yardi experience is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- CPA strongly preferred.
