CNC Machinist/Programmer - Full Time - Baton Rouge (LA), United States Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. We are looking for a CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our Services_AME team in the United States. Your main tasks and responsibilities: Performs layouts, sets up, and operates conventional machine tools as required Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Designs setups and methods where none exist Instructs other shop personnel in proper machining techniques: set-ups, feeds and speeds for both carbide and high-speed steel cutting tools, methods and standard operating procedures Operates manual and automatic feeds to 0.0002” as required for final cuts Stays attentive while the CNC is running Be able to quickly shut down or change the program to prevent detrimental damage to the machine or personnel safety Calculates / Anticipates tool offset changes due to wear during the machine process CNC Maintenance - Maintain Oil Levels as required and clean area. Q.C. all manufactured parts prior to removing from machine and informing the Department Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs To succeed in this role, you will need: High School diploma or equivalent Completion of a CNC Machinist apprentice program or equivalent training Must have experience Programming and Operating CNC Lathes and Milling Centers Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections Demonstrated ability to effectively set up all, or at least most, of the following machines: I.D./O.D. Grinder, Turret Lathe, Engine Lathe, Knee Mill, Radial Drill, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill, and Planer Mill Ability to perform with a minimum of direct supervision Working knowledge of tool geometry and application Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds Must be able to use precision measuring instruments Willingness to work in a team environment Ability to work overtime as required What we offer you: 15 days of paid time off and 11 company-paid holidays 401k plan with a 6% match Motivating wellness program Employee Assistance Program Sulzer is an equal opportunity employer.
