Overview

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under supervision and guidance of R&D scientist/engineer/supervisor, the lab technician will perform product development tasks. These tasks require a basic understanding of laboratory practices, and mathematical and scientific principles, and encompass a variety of responsibilities ranging from maintaining raw material inventory, preparing bench top samples, to supporting pilot/plant trials. Maintaining Oracle formulas and raw materials in conjunction with the generation of master batch records. Duties will be performed at HLF product development laboratories in Torrance, CA or other locations, as required. Display attitude reflective of high performer: positive, proactive, productive, focused, and informed.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Prepare bench top samples for internal and external evaluation, with minimal supervision.

Evaluate and test in-coming raw materials, blends, and finished products, as directed.

Ensure all raw materials and laboratory supplies are properly tracked and in inventory.

Perform basic chemical, physical and product performance test on finished products, as directed. Record and publish results.

Collect data and communicate observations to the scientists/engineers.

Record all experiments and results in laboratory notebook and/or batch records, accurately and in a timely manner.

As required and under supervision, R&D tasks will be performed at Herbalife Innovation and Manufacturing (HIM) facilities, Contract Manufacturers, etc. to assist scientist/engineers with pilot/plant trials.

Perform and log daily maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.

Maintain raw material COA Database and ensure a copy of current SOPs and

COAs are available in the lab for reference.

Maintain laboratory workspace and equipment in a clean and orderly state.

Create Item Masters in Oracle and enter formula information into the Oracle system. Reviews information to ensure it is compliant with the Agile PLM system.

Generates manufacturing and packaging master batch records in the Electronic Batch Record (EBR) system.

Adhere to company established Lab Safety & EHS (Environmental Health and

Safety) Policies and Procedures to ensure safe work environment.

Comply with GLP and cGMP Regulations.

Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

Ability to take priorities and direction from supervisor, and ensure that tasks are delivered in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.

Ability to work on several projects at a time.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to work on teams.

Work within standards of food development laboratory.

Team oriented interpersonal skills

Ability to manage data and information in MS Office; Excel, Word and Outlook

Experience:

2-4 years of related industry experience

Preference given to candidates with food preparation experience

Preference given to candidates with experience in generating documentation for GMP environment

Preference given to candidates with experience in Oracle or other Product Lifecycle Management computer envioronments.

Education:

High School Diploma and/or Associate degree

PREFERRED QUAIFICATIONS:

College Degree in Food or related scientific discipline.

Experience working in laboratory environment.

Experience working in a GMP environment.
