Senior Software Engineer - Billing and Accounting

Join Harris' Systems & Software, a leader in the Utility CIS arena, as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Billing and Accounting Systems. In this role, you'll develop innovative backend solutions aimed at enhancing our industry-leading software package for billing systems. Your expertise will drive progress for our customers and the utility sector as a whole. In this role, your contributions will include: Providing technical leadership and mentorship to team members. Leading design reviews and supporting Professional Services, R&D, and Support Departments with technical challenges. Collaborating with QA to promote best practices, ensuring high standards of quality. Managing code reviews and offering valuable feedback on backend designs and implementations. Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact project timelines. Implementing accounting best practices in backend billing and reporting applications. Assisting utilities in their financial auditing processes. We are looking for candidates who possess: A B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Math, Accounting, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience with strong backend development skills. A solid understanding of mathematical concepts and a passion for problem-solving. Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL, or MS SQL Server and Transact-SQL. An outstanding work ethic and ability to excel in a dynamic environment. Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders. A willingness to continually learn and grow, both independently and collaboratively. Bonus points if you have: Experience with programming languages such as COBOL, Visual Basic, Haskell, or LISP. Deep knowledge of backend development for billing and/or accounting applications. A strong familiarity with the utility sector and a proven track record of client interaction.
