The DISA IT Operation within Leidos' Digital Modernization Group is seeking a
Senior Virtualization Engineer
to support the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) Task Order for the GIG Service Management - Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional with extensive hands-on engineering and testing experience in both virtualized on-premise and cloud environments, specifically with VMWARE ESXi infrastructure. With the CESO program, the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) aims to elevate the current Secure Web Services (SWS) environment, enhancing secure information sharing for the DoD and IC community. As part of this task order, Leidos will oversee the migration to commercial cloud solutions and fully automate continuous development and integration processes, consolidating services while improving customer experience and developing a service catalog for the Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF) Model. This position is 100% onsite in Arlington, VA
with occasional/situational travel in and outside of the Washington Metro Area. Primary Responsibilities: Provide expert Tier 3 support to virtualization administrators. Ensure all hardware and software components are maintained at vendor-supported levels. Develop deep expertise in ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN management. Support mission-critical Continuity of Operations (COOP). Contribute to and/or lead After Action Reports (AARs). Offer specialized guidance on managing and operating VMWARE clusters within DISA CESO's architecture. Analyze current technologies and processes to find improvement opportunities. Formulate strategies and requirements for future cybersecurity initiatives. Actively engage in DISA CESO and partner working group meetings. Uphold DOD STIGs, DISA orders, and JSIG policies and regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of relevant experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). At least 6 years of hands-on VMWARE experience in engineering, operations, and maintenance roles. Active DOD TS/SCI security clearance is required. Willingness to obtain and maintain a CI/Poly security clearance is required. Strong knowledge of VMWARE concepts and best practices is essential. Experience in high-op-tempo, Top Secret environments is preferred. 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP) is required. Preferred Qualifications: VCP-VMware Certification is highly desired. Previous experience with DISA and its support for mission partners is a plus.
