Electromechanical Assembler
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Electromechanical Assembler for a contract-to-hire position. This role involves the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of flight harnesses and avionics systems, with a focus on adhering to industry standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 and NASA STD 8739.4. The ideal candidate will possess strong visual acuity, a solid understanding of quality control practices, and experience working within AS9100 standards. Attention to detail, organization, and a proactive work ethic are essential for success in this role.
Shift:
Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Overtime as needed on Fridays)
Pay Rate:
$28.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Responsibilities
Perform soldering and assembly under a microscope.
Fabricate flight harnesses using essential tools and test equipment.
Conduct soldering, crimping, stripping, and assembly of spacecraft harnesses.
Conduct quality assurance inspections on completed harness builds.
Interpret wire harness schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
Apply quality control methodologies and identify components for harness builds.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Perform job functions safely and professionally in a cleanroom environment.
Essential Skills
2–4 years of experience in harness fabrication.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or NASA STD 8739.4 standards.
Basic understanding of electronic components and manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and interpret BOMs, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
Proficient with computers and general software tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with J-STD-001 certification is a plus.
5+ years of soldering cables, wires, soldering cups, and connectors.
3+ years building wire harnesses.
Knowledge of IPC 620 & J STD (not 610).
Able to read blueprints and schematics on electronic devices.
Diploma.
Able to lift 10-20 lbs.
Work Environment
The position is based in a cleanroom environment where 80% of work is performed under a microscope. The schedule is Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with potential overtime on Fridays. The role may transition to a Friday-Sunday schedule, 6 AM-6:30 PM, working 36 hours a week, with compensation for 40 hours. Adherence to cleanroom guidelines is required.
