Summary:

UNC Health’s Care Access team is seeking a Program Manager to lead its enterprise-wide Referrals Program. The HCS Program Manager will provide oversight, strategy and management of system referral solutions aimed at enhancing and streamlining referral processes and tools for providers, schedulers and patients.

Referrals Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Referrals Program including system design of ambulatory referrals, referral workqueues, provider preference lists, referral key performance indicators (KPIs), and referral interoperability initiatives.

The Referrals Program serves as the bridge between clinic and access operational partners and Information Services Division (ISD) teams. Additional duties include program development, project management, KPI metric analysis, problem resolution, personnel management, and performance improvement.

An ideal candidate has strong project and program management skills, experience working with referrals, and is adept at navigating conversations with physicians and operational leaders.

Responsibilities:

Referrals Program Management:

Serves as a member of the UNC Care Access team leading referrals program management, development and strategy. Responsible for driving operational success of the referrals program and key contributor to development of strategies to address changing market conditions, increased demand for services and capacity constraints. Ensures enterprise-wide referrals meet system standards and referral workqueues are designed and managed according to system policies. Works collaboratively with access and operational partners and ISD to assess and provide recommendations for referral optimization requests.

Technology and Analytics:

Provide operational oversight of referrals KPIs and dashboards. Ensure access and operational leaders have tools to manage referral workqueues, including aging referrals. This position requires skill and expertise in referral management, quality measures, analytics, and quality improvement initiatives and strategies including an in-depth working knowledge and expertise in Epic@UNC (Cadence, Ambulatory, MyChart).

Leadership:

The program manager is responsible for the leadership and supervision of a team that works with operational, clinical and ISD partners to design and implement referrals tools and workflows. Participates in the evaluation of new technologies that will enhance referral workflows and create efficiencies. Cultivates a culture of innovation by promoting creative thinking, proactively identifying emerging trends, and fostering collaboration among cross functional teams.

Education Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Health Administration, or related field)

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

● No licensure or certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● Five (5) years of program/project management experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
