SMX is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will work closely with customers, fellow team members, and other System Administrators in support of Missile Defense Agency.
This role involves identifying and executing projects and tasks that require advanced technical support and quick turnaround. The administrator will also participate in weekly and bi-weekly meetings to keep customers informed on task progress, project updates, and any concerns.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work collaboratively to provide input and solutions to meet business requirements
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Ansible playbooks and other administrative shell scripting
Effectively analyze and resolve problems involving interaction between applications, server hardware/firmware/OS and storage by working with cross functional teams and equipment vendors with minimal supervision
Taking ownership of issue as assigned and resolved in a timely manner
Taking ownership of incidents and service requests via ticketing queue and seeing that the requests are completed in a timely manner
Attend meetings with current and incoming customers for technical advice on proposed projects
Patching, Maintenance and Infrastructure Support
Required Skills/Experience
Required Clearance: Secret
Experience with RHEL 8/9 and/or CentOS
Knowledge of DoD Information Assurance practices, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
Security+ or other relevant IAT Level II/III certification
Desired Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred
Experience with Solaris
Experience with Red Had Identity Management
Experience with Red Hat Satellite
Experience with Ansible
Bash Scripting
Independent research using vendor-specific and third party sources
Experience with escalating vendor support
Cloud-based certifications
