Security Engineer
This position requires an active
DoE Q
clearance or Top-Secret clerance to be considered. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Engineer to support the maintenance, performance, and security of enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will be able to monitor and troubleshoot network security monitoring issues, endpoint security issues, and SIEM-related issues regarding data routing and data quality. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for
Security Engineer : $80-$90K Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Security Engineer Responsibilities Include: Monitor, maintain, and administer a diverse suite of network security monitoring hardware and software solutions. Perform regular system health checks, applying patches and upgrades when required. Configure network security systems in accordance with DISA STIG's to ensure optimal performance and a hardened security posture. Serve as a technical authority for identifying, analyzing, and resolving various complex issues within the network security monitoring environment. Create, test, and refine detection logic for various network security monitoring tools feeding the Enterprise SIEM. Collaborate with various teams within the SOC and other stakeholders to translate emerging threat intelligence into actionable detections. Responsible for complete and continuous ingestion of logs from network security monitoring toolsets into the Enterprise SIEM. Interact with remote site personnel and other engineering teams to coordinate and remediate monitoring issues. Identify tuning opportunities to increase performance or capabilities of the network security monitoring suite. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Security Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5 years of cybersecurity experience (additional experience may substitute for degree). DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE). Understands basic troubleshooting methodology, such as the OSI model, to diagnose problems ranging from server unreachability to application-level failures. Familiarity with Bash scripting to automate and streamline detection-related tasks. Ability to independently resolve issues and ensuring minimal disruption to security operations. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of network traffic analysis and adversary tactics to develop high-fidelity alerts. Proficient in administering Linux-based applications and systems. Knowledge of industry-leading cybersecurity toolsets and technologies as it relates to network security monitoring. Familiarity with SCM-related tools and automation tools such as Git, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc. Skill in communicating technical information clearly and effectively to a various range of audiences from management to engineering. Experience with quick problem identification and learning to adapt to new technologies and evolving threats. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
