Job Description Summary

The Senior Advanced Staff Engineer will report to the Section Manager for FoF Configurations Design. The engineer will be responsible for designing externals for various ground-test and flight-test technology demonstrator engines, with hardware including tubes, ducts, hoses, harnesses, and brackets. The Engineer will also be responsible for the technical growth of others in the organization through participation in Design Board activities. The maturation of these technologies is central to the realization of aviation industry sustainability goals in the first half of the 21st century.

Successful advanced-career GE Configurations Design Engineers possess educational backgrounds including, but not limited to Aerospace and Mechanical engineering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Configurations Design Advanced Staff Engineer, you will:

-Collaborate with the Systems Integration Team and other hardware module groups to design an externals package that meets cost, weight, reliability, and maintainability objectives.

-Apply GE best practices and design standards

-Present results to internal (GE) and external (airframer, government, ...) customers

-Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment

-Lead a virtual/global externals module team including Design Engineers, Product Definition, & Stress/Thermal/Flow Analysts

-Mentor less-experienced members of the team.

-Review drawings for technical accuracy.

-Participate in Design Board activities to further the organization's capabilities in the design discipline.

-Additionally, you will have the responsible to continually mature your personal and professional development through training opportunities, mentorship, and formal career path definition.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

Minimum of 20 years of Mechanical Design experience, including 5 years of jet engine externals design experience.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Significant experience using solid-modelling software

Significant experience using Finite Element Analysis and interpreting results

Significant experience with MS Office Suite

Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams

Project planning and project management experience

Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
