Iridium is currently seeking a Manager, Network Systems. As a Manager, Network Systems, you’ll be responsible for managing multiple activities and people, including those with cross-functional teams, to keep the EMSS gateway running smoothly. You’ll bring enthusiasm about leading and mentoring your direct reports in the technical/contractual responsibilities to support the program.

This position requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You’ll Do:

Foster and develop a highly effective team of technical support for Standard Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG), Information Assurance and Vulnerability Assessment (IAVA), and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACCAS) implementation to keep the cyber security status current and all equipment operational

Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and managing conflict when necessary

Work independently to ensure development projects align with the cyber security directives outlined by the government, to insure successful integration into the gateway

Be responsible for customer satisfaction of contracted work

Ensure trouble tickets are addressed in a timely manner

Deliver contract data requirement lists and ensure the performance work statement is followed accurately and on time

Coordinate and schedule installation, security auditing, STIG and IAVA changes, initial testing, customer acceptance testing and legacy equipment removal

Possess specialized knowledge on government contracts, Iridium ground equipment, and cyber security requirements

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree

8+ years of relevant experience in the satellite ground system operations, preferably in support of government contracts

Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and role modelling commitment to your team’s goals

Have a team-oriented mentality and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with others and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic

Be able to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with new and unique solutions

Be self-motivated and possess a high degree of creativity, independence, and resourcefulness

Have a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and results

Can thrive in a dynamic environment and efficiently manage multiple projects for yourself and your team while making sure to meet deadlines

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

Previous management experience

Degree or certifications in cyber security

Knowledge and experience with low earth orbit satellite communications systems

Telecommunications experience, GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) in particular

Project management skills

Familiarity with fulfilment of government contracts

The ability to multiplex effectively between high priority tasks

Be able to travel up to 10%

Be a U.S. Citizen

Work Environment: This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
