Job Overview Join our dynamic team as we revolutionize the core of Relativity's data infrastructure. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in transforming the Document Data Model (DDM) into a more scalable, high-performing, and developer-friendly system. This major initiative is crucial for our Cloud Native Transformation objectives and impacts nearly every aspect of our product. You will work with complex, high-volume systems that enhance customer experience and internal efficiency, helping shape the future of data modeling, access, and scalability across Relativity. Your Role in Action Design and implement scalable performance enhancements for the DDM and its supporting infrastructure.

Create APIs and backend services that integrate with the DDM and support various new use cases.

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define and execute modernization strategies.

Drive improvements in system observability, reliability, and maintainability.

Actively participate in the on-call schedule to troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to our data processing pipeline or query engine.

Engage in code reviews for projects developed by your team.

Ensure quality through thorough unit and integration testing.

Your Skills 4+ years of experience in building commercial-grade systems within a SaaS or technology environment.

Strong proficiency in C# or similar programming languages (Go, Java, Ruby) along with design patterns.

In-depth understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design and performance optimization.

Experience with microservices, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD practices.

Proven track record of designing and developing APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL) and backend services.

Essential experience in abstracting OLTP data CRUD access via APIs.

Familiarity with professional software engineering practices and the software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Utilize best practices and past experiences to mentor and enhance team productivity.

We'd Particularly Love It If You Have: Demonstrated proficiency with CosmosDB, CockroachDB, or Postgres.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.

Experience in designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud-native settings.

A background in event-driven architectures or streaming systems.

Experience with Domain Driven Design (DDD).

Experience with Spark (PySpark or Scala) or DataFusion (Rust) and columnar table formats like Delta or Iceberg.

Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices. This position offers total compensation that includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives. The expected salary range for this role is between $126,000 and $190,000. The final offered salary will consider various factors, including the candidate's experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal equity. Hiring at the top of this range would not be typical to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
