We are looking for a self-motivated, capable, enthusiastic, and dependable person to join our growing Data Science & Analytics team in this collaborative and results-oriented position that is focused on helping to execute our Market Insights and Real World Data Solutions strategies.
Position Summary
The Ontada team draws upon deep expertise in data science, data analytics, and real-world clinical data to deliver clinical data products and insights for clients in the life sciences industry across multiple phases of drug development and commercialization. Our work helps clients define markets, demonstrate value and effectiveness, and inform business decisions throughout product lifecycles.
The Data Scientist will have the opportunity to work on complex business problems leveraging our in-house EMR / EHR data sources within a collaborative environment. This role will be responsible to support healthcare data initiatives by providing accurate and timely data preparation, analysis and insights, quality assurance and ongoing system and process maintenance.This person will be responsible for obtaining and validating raw data, performing analysis, deploying and refining internal tooling & analytics pipelines, and producing mock-up and production reports and visualizations from available sources. The person will have an in-depth knowledge of analytics software, documentation, utilities & program scripts, experience handling longitudinal patient-level data, as well as excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Based on candidates' skills and experience, this role will be filled as either a Data Scientist or a Senior Data Scientist.
Key responsibilities
With minimal supervision, synthesizes business rules and methodological approach to answer questions posed by internal or external clients
Prepares, structures, and analyzes raw healthcare data from multiple sources, such as, electronic health records and claims data, using algorithms
Ensures data sets and reports are built to specifications and formats output of data analysis for customer readiness
Facilitates and participates in peer review meetings for each of the deliverables
Works on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Leverage data visualization and interactive dashboards to effectively communicate insights and help clients make better decisions from our clinical data products
Translating the findings from reports for clients into implications or recommendations for business decisions
Interacts with clients to clarify needs and in reviewing results
Provides quality assurance on all assigned reporting and data extracts
Proactively communicates, collaborates, and builds relationships with external and internal stakeholders
Formulate and implement effective data strategies, and identify areas for significant efficiency gain through automation
Minimum Requirement Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience. Education Bachelor's / Master's degree, with a focus in Healthcare, Public Health, Statistics, Research Methods, Computer Science or related fields strongly preferred (Master's degree required for Senior role) Critical Skills 4+ years of programming in Python / PySpark and SQL, and able to code at an advanced level. Familiarity with SAS preferred
4+ years of work experience in hands-on analysis of clinical / healthcare data analysis, including expertise working with large, longitudinal, patient-level datasets with granular clinical detail
2+ years of hands-on experience programming in Databricks (strongly preferred) or equivalent platforms, with a focus on data manipulation, building & deploying standardized pipelines
Experience in mining Claims and EMR data, preferably oncology related data
Experience or a strong interest in data analysis, clinical / patient journey / treatment pattern analysis, visualization and applying quantitative methods to real-world business problems in the life sciences industry
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Self-starter, able to work with limited supervision
Demonstrates curiosity and a creative approach to problem solving
Effectively work independently and within a team
Excellent attention to detail
A desire to continuously learn and develop professionally
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
