We're looking for an experienced, client-focused Municipal Team Leader who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and business development.
In this pivotal role, you will
recruit, lead, and grow a dynamic team
of technical professionals while serving as the primary contact for municipal clients. Youll play a key role in expanding our presence in the Iowa market by building relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering high-quality municipal services.
R/M has an
established presence in Iowa through our Iowa City and Cedar Rapids offices, which are home to
Axiom Consultants our private market brand and part of the R/M family of firms. These offices include professionals who bring deep municipal expertise and a strong understanding of the local market. With R/Ms municipal expertise and Axioms trusted network of Iowa-based colleagues, youll have the foundation and freedom to grow our municipal presence and
shape its future.

Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
Recruit, mentor, and lead
a team of engineering professionals
Provide leadership and
oversight on all municipal projects
in Iowa
Drive market growth
by building client relationships, responding to RFPs, and networking
Serve as a
technical resource
for staff training, quality control, and project management
Develop, execute, and oversee
strategic client relationship
plans
Act as the
primary point of contact for municipal clients
and subconsultants
Collaborate with the Executive Team and other Team Leaders to
execute corporate strategies
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
Bachelors Degree
(or higher)
in Civil Engineering
or a related field
Professional Engineer
(PE) registration in Iowa (or ability to obtain)
Minimum of
8 years
of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, including 5+ years in project management and/or business development roles
Broad experience
across water distribution, sanitary sewage collection, water resources, transportation, land development, permitting, and construction
Proven experience
with client interaction, business development, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation
Strong
leadership , communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive both
independently and within a team
environment, while managing deadlines effectively
