Job Title: Controls & Instrumentation Engineer – Specialty Chemicals
Overview:
Join a 125-person specialty chemical manufacturing plant that is experiencing significant capital investment and modernization. With multiple infrastructure and controls upgrades underway, we are seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to drive PLC system expansions, advanced process control implementation, and operator training . You will also provide support to other company facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize Allen Bradley PLCs and Redlion HMIs (or equivalent).
- Work with SCADA software (preferably Wonderware) to enhance process monitoring and control.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train operators on new HMIs and control strategies.
- Contribute to advanced process control initiatives to improve plant efficiency and reliability.
- Participate in panel building , Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) , and commissioning of new systems.
- Program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) .
- Create and update electrical drawings and P&IDs using AutoCAD.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and operational improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Automation Engineering (or closely related field).
- 2+ years of industry experience in chemicals, refining, or similar process industries.
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs , Redlion HMIs , and SCADA software (Wonderware preferred).
- Experience with panel building and FAT highly desirable.
- Knowledge of VFD programming is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical and P&ID drawings.
