nnSummary Description
nThe Electrical Engineer 3 position serves as the primary electrical power engineer performing all aspects of power system design, engineering, troubleshooting, and power system analysis in support of the EnerG Test team and The Tri-M group. Provides review and oversight of EE1 and EE2 as needed.
nnEssential Functions
n- n
- Complies with all Tri-M and customer safety policies and procedures. n
- Complies with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company. n
- Performs short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow studies and prepares reports. n
- Provides engineering for planning and execution of testing and design-build projects. n
- Performs quality assurance reviews of acceptance and maintenance test reports. n
- Prepares reports for power quality, system coordination, and other engineering investigations
- Performs field surveys to determine testing project scope of work and site conditions. n
- Prepares and conducts in-house training sessions for testing technicians. n
- Assists technicians with on-site engineering support for testing, troubleshooting, and upgrades. n
- Prepares test plans and/or preliminary designs, cost estimates, and proposals for prospective projects. n
- Performs power system analysis to determine root cause and solution(s) to customers power quality, system coordination, and equipment problems. n
- Independently executes Power Studies at $250k or less, designs at $50k or less, and design builds at $250k or less, requiring minimal review at critical points throughout the project. Provides design and equipment specifications for solutions to customers power quality, system coordination, and equipment problems. n
- Assists other departments with engineering support for power system design and testing. n
- Stays abreast of testing standards, methods, equipment and software, and makes recommendations for improvement in processes and techniques. n
- Perform power quality analysis and troubleshooting. n
- Perform advanced power system design and improvement projects. n
Skills/Educational Requirements:
n- n
- Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering. n
- 3+ years experience as a Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one of the following States: PA, DE, MD, NJ. n
- 8+ years experience in power systems engineering with exposure to power systems and / or electrical testing. n
- Experience with electrical distribution systems from the utility (medium voltage) through to the control and systems level (24VDC/4-20mA). n
- Experience with NETA, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards applicable to power systems design and electrical testing. n
- Expert level knowledge of and experience with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E standards. n
- Knowledge or familiarity with power system design methodologies, grounding, and with power system equipment including overcurrent protective devices, motor-control centers, switchgear, transformers, and other low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment of many manufacturers.
- Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions within deadlines while coordinating with other divisions. n
- Experience with power systems modeling and analysis software, preferably SKM. n
- Comfortable and experienced with medium voltage power system design, equipment, protection and associated systems. n
- Possessing basic skills in estimating/proposals, developing scopes of work. n
- Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions within deadlines. n
- Good written and verbal communication skills. n
- Strong analytical skills and good mechanical aptitude. n
Physical Requirements:

- Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders. n
- Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing. n

- Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design. n
- Balance adequate for climbing ladders, scaffolds, and lifts. n
- Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces. n
- Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards. n
- Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection. n
