The individual with this position will have to coordinate between the machine shop, quotation department and the customer. This position is mainly an on-site position but might involve up to 10% field service work. This engineering position will entail a dual role with hands-on tasks along with office responsibilities. It is expected that the individual will need training as part of the on-boarding process and Sulzer will accommodate.

  • 3 years’ experience in rotating equipment repairs
    • n
  • The experience is in rotating equipment repairs, but acceptable experience includesn
      n
    1. Rotating equipment manufacturing
      2. n
    2. Rotating equipment package design and assembly
      3. n
    3. Vibration analysis
      4. n
    4. Field Service-Overhauls
      5. n
    n
    • n
  • Proficient with CAD software: AutoDesk or Solidworks
    • n
  • Knowhow of the following topicsn
      n
    1. Rolling element bearings, sleeve babbitt bearings
      2. n
    2. Oil seals and their functionality
      3. n
    3. Vibration spectrums and how to interpret them
      4. n
    4. Alignment
      5. n

  • Proficient in the usage of micrometers

  • Familiarity with seal and bearing clearances to shafts is if not it is expected this topic is learnt by the engineer as part of on-the-job training.

Role

  • The mechanical engineer will need to bridge the communication to the customers on the mechanical portion of the repair.
    • n
  • The mechanical engineer will need to be involved on the discovery side of the inspections to assist in developing an accurate workscope.

  • Should be proficient in CAD software to document design changes and create drawings to be shared with the customers.
    • n
  • This role will require the individual to be hands-on and involved in the day-to day operations.

  • The role will require performing or confirming precise measurements using micrometers and calipers.
