As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality challenges, enhance operational efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives that make a real difference.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that supplied materials and finished products comply with all relevant quality standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements
- Lead and participate in problem-solving activities with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of non-conformances and implement effective corrective actions
- Train and mentor other Quality Engineers, sharing expertise related to core product areas
- Develop and lead cross-functional teams to meet company quality, cost, and delivery objectives
- Develop and maintain QA work instructions, check sheets, and inspection instructions
- Create, organize, and implement inspection and gage plans for new or improved processes
- Perform manufacturing and inspection process audits to ensure machining, assembly, and inspection activities comply with standards
- Validate measurement techniques and ensure accurate data reporting (CMM, inspections, lab)
- Conduct capability studies and part layouts using CMM and other measurement equipment, producing Initial Sample Inspection Reports
- Collaborate with shop personnel to identify and resolve nonconforming issues
- Prepare statistical information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends
- Oversee effective containment processes to minimize risks related to non-conforming materials or processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Minimum of 4-6 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with machining and inspecting parts made from large aluminum castings
- Working knowledge of CMM functionality, including programming for data validation and dimensional reporting
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with basic Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles
- Skilled in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 6 Sigma Green Belt, Yellow Belt, or Black Belt certification
- Experience applying Statistical Process Control techniques and analyzing process capabilities
- Familiarity with metrology techniques, measurement tools, data collection, and NDT methods
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, and communicating technical drawings and product specifications
- Experience utilizing MSA, Gage R&R, and teaching good measurement practice
- Experience with 5S principles and lean manufacturing concepts
- Flexible, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
