SALARY RANGE: $112,500 – 122,500 POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role of an Electrical Engineer is to participate in the design and detail engineering efforts to support the construction of aluminum and steel vessels. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities)- Design vessel electrical systems which meet requirements set forth in the vessel specification, creating models, drawings, and detailed bills of materials. (Small vessels preferred)
- Perform all calculations required for electrical systems design.
- Support estimators during preliminary stages of project.
- Support production personnel during construction phase of project.
- Participate in sea trials of completed vessels.
- Maintain engineering block library and electrical systems standards documents.
- Strong computer skills and experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) additionally with SolidWorks, Rhino, or Ship Constructor preferred.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work with extremely tight specifications.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
- Experience must include good working knowledge of design spiral, vessel arrangements, structural, electrical, mechanical and outfit details.
- Capable of clear effective communications, creative problem solving, and working well with others of all levels of authority and technical knowledge.
- Must be highly organized and have excellent documentation skills.
- BA in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelors in marine, electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Five (5) years of marine experience required, experience in vessel design and construction preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with CFR, IACS Classing Society rules, ABYC, IEEE, and military contracts is preferred.
