Job Title: Registered Dental HygienistDepartment: ClinicalReports To: Practice OwnerJob Type: Full-Time | Non-ExemptLocation: Columbian Square Dental, Weymouth, MAPosition Summary:The Dental Hygienist provides high-quality preventive dental care and oral health education to patients, supporting the dentist in comprehensive patient treatment. This role is responsible for conducting dental cleanings, taking and interpreting x-rays, administering fluoride treatments, and educating patients on proper oral hygiene. All duties must be performed in compliance with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry regulations, OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC infection control standards.Key Responsibilities:Conduct initial patient screenings and review dental/medical history.Perform dental cleanings, scaling and root planing (SRP), polishing, and fluoride applications.Take, process, and interpret dental x-rays (within allowable scope).Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if licensed and certified).Apply sealants and desensitizing agents.Document patient care and findings in the electronic health record (EHR) accurately and timely.Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and disease prevention.Sterilize instruments and maintain operatory cleanliness per infection control protocols.Assist dentist during patient exams when necessary.Monitor and maintain inventory of hygiene supplies and report needs to management.Stay up to date with continuing education and licensure requirements per Massachusetts law.Required Qualifications:Active Massachusetts Dental Hygienist License in good standing.Certification in administration of local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide (if applicable).Current CPR/BLS certification.Proficient in dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental).Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.Preferred Qualifications:2 plus years of experience as a practicing dental hygienist.Experience with digital x-rays, intra oral pictures and intraoral scanning.Bilingual abilities is a plus.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.Manual dexterity to operate dental equipment and instruments.Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs.Visual and auditory acuity for patient evaluation and communication.Work Schedule:Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PMOccasional changes in days and/or hours may be required.Compensation and Benefits:Competitive hourly rate $ 51.00-61.00/hour based on experienceEligible for PTO, holiday pay, and medical insurance, dental discount program, 401(k) - customize based on offering.Equal Opportunity Employer:Columbian Square Dental is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
