Dam Safety Engineer / Subject Matter Expert
HDR is seeking experienced Professional Engineers for various disciplines across the country to join our Hydropower Practice. We are industry leaders in dam safety, specializing in FERC Part 12 Dam Safety Program assessments, comprehensive evaluations, and inspections. The primary responsibilities include: Supporting inspections and assessments of dams and water-retaining structures. Conducting analyses, evaluations, and designs with supporting calculations. Preparing contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for hydraulic structures. Performing engineering assignments requiring critical thinking and creativity. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on hydropower and dam safety projects. Managing projects independently, overseeing QA/QC, and mentoring staff. Participating in risk assessments for dams and hydraulic structures. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering, with at least 8 years of relevant experience, including project management and PE licensure. Experience with FERC regulations and hydropower infrastructure is preferred. This role involves travel and offers hybrid or flexible work locations nationwide.
