Job Description
Responsible for performing and assessing clinical laboratory test on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely manner. Assist with Supervision of the Technical Staff and work independently under general direction to address laboratory needs as the occasion arises.
Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of Duties.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the supervision of the technical staff and provides support the supervisor.
Processing of Chemistry specimens from pre to post-analytical phase.
Prepares specimens to be tested; Performs manual and automated test on blood, urine, and body fluids according to established laboratory procedures.
Analyzes, interprets, and reports test results.
Monitors testing equipment, solutions and work environment by following laboratory Quality Control procedures, ensuring the overall reliability of test results.
Assis with inventory management
Efficiency in adapting to changes in order to facilitate adequate staffing and effective demonstration in identifying and acting on priorities in a timely manner.
Train new and current employees
Participates in in-services, continuing education courses and complete 12CE credits per year.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED.
In addition to meeting the qualification requirement of Assignment Level II, appointment to Level III requires:
1. One (1) year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.

Qualifying experience is not limited to New York State.
Candidates that are solely licensed or issued permits to practice as cytotechnologists or histotechnologists may only be assigned work, including supervising personnel performing laboratory work, in a laboratory discipline/specialty appropriate to their license or permit. Candidates that are licensed or hold permits to practice as clinical laboratory technologists may be assigned work, including supervising personnel performing laboratory work, in all laboratory disciplines/specialties.
