Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: MRI Technologist Specialty: MRI Duration: 20 weeks Shift: 10H Nights, Monday-Thursday Hours per Shift: 7:00 PM - 5:30 AM Experience: Minimum 3 years of MRI experience License: Not required Certifications: BLS, Certified MRI Technologist - ARRT (MR) Must-Have: 1 year of MRI experience Experience with Siemens MRI systems Preference for Philips MRI experience Experience in a Level II trauma setting is a plus Description: The department has a total of 4 scanners, and agency will staff 2. There is also a mobile unit that may require additional coverage. The technologist will not need to float or cover any other areas. Common types of imaging performed include musculoskeletal imaging, basic neuro, abdomen/pelvis, radiation oncology, and breast imaging. The technologist will encounter patients with pacemakers and anesthesia, as well as ICU and NICU patients. Expect to perform an average of 30 scans/studies per day due to long protocols. The department uses PACS software, specifically McKesson or Changed Health Care Meditech. Department specific equipment includes Siemens MRI systems, and a Philips scanner will be added soon. There is a full-time supervisor on each shift. A senior technologist will be scheduled if a lead technologist is not available. The facility will soon be hiring Registered Radiology Assistants. Radiologists are on-site during the daytime, with most MRI readings being done remotely. Starting IVs is required. Shifts are typically four 10-hour shifts. Weekend work is required only for those specifically hired for weekend shifts. The department handles a high volume of inpatients, ranging from 10-14 per day, and 4-8 outpatients on weekends, typically without contrast. There is no standby or call requirement, but volunteering may be an option if staffing is short. The dress code includes black scrubs with a black or gray jacket. Fleece is not permitted, although a black or gray undershirt can be worn under scrubs. The department has 1-2 weeks of unit/department specific orientation. The charting system used is MEDITECH - 6.1.
