What You'll Do
Under the supervision of Unit Managers, RN Clinical Operations Coordinators, and RN Service Leads, the Surgical Technologist supports physicians and surgeons during procedures to ensure optimal outcomes and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrate expert knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.

Anticipate surgeon needs by closely monitoring the procedure and patient condition.

Ensure integrity and sterility of the operative environment.

Participate in a wide range of minimally invasive and traditional surgeries.

Serve as a critical member of a multidisciplinary care team.

Surgical Technologist I

Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or equivalent training

AST Certification*
-
BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
Surgical Technologist II

Meets Tech I qualifications
-
Minimum of 2 years' experience (or 1 year at BMC)
-
Demonstrated competency post-orientation
Surgical Technologist III
-
Meets Tech I qualifications
-
Minimum of 4 years' experience (including 1 year at Baystate Health)
*Certification required for those without prior surgical experience before July 1, 2013.
