nShifts: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (4 days on, 2 off.)
nRequirements
nMust be certified as a Nursing Assistant with the State of Louisiana
nMust be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
nComputer skills appropriate to fulfill E-documentation
nHigh School/GED and Louisiana Certification
nOne year experience as a C N A
nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
nProvides basic resident care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and assists in the maintenance of the unit environment. Participates in all areas of the residents’ activities of daily living.
nPrimary:
nAttends to all resident personal hygiene and personal care needs and immediately reports any changes in condition to nursing or household leadership.
nUnderstands and accepts that resident care is continuous throughout the work period and although care may be provided on a planned basis, it must also be provided at unscheduled times as residents’ needs require.
nPerforms continuous direct and indirect resident care as assigned &/or directed by supervisor, and which is consistent with the needs of the residents.
nAnswers resident call lights. Responds to emergency call lights.
nProvides restorative therapy under the leadership of therapy professionals and in accordance with the resident’s functional maintenance plan.
nFunctions as the resident’s closest advocate ensuring that resident is protected from abuse and neglect.
nPractices effective communication techniques with residents, visitors, and coworkers.
nMaintains appropriate documentation of care as policy and regulation requires.
nReceives and gives report to charge nurse & team members at change of shift.
nUnderstands & adheres to residents’ rights.
nAssists with admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.
nTransports and escorts residents as assigned by supervisor.
nMaintains clean spaces in the household, including resident rooms, common spaces, and the kitchen.
nSupports all aspects of the household environment, including pets, plants, children, visitors and guests, facilitating all planned and spontaneous needs and activities
nAttends staff development/in-service activities to improve knowledge, skills, and to maintain competency.
nPromotes a positive image of the facility.
nMakes on-going effort to familiarize self with state and federal long-term care regulations and provide care following these guidelines.
nAssists with preparation and service of resident meals as assigned.

nContinually seeks opportunities to meet resident’s psychosocial needs through both planned and spontaneous actions.
nPlans and organizes social activities for individual residents, small groups and for the household
nSeeks opportunities throughout the day to facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and household preference
nLeads and participates in learning circles with residents and staff
nMaintains equipment, games and supplies for use in household activities
nMaintains appropriate documentation of social service & activities functions in the household
