An agency based in Oklahoma City is seeking a
General Counsel
to lead its legal department and provide strategic guidance on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This is a mission-critical role that advises senior leadership on high-stakes decisions, litigation strategy, contract negotiation, and evolving state and federal legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities: Provide legal advice on agency operations, contracts, policies, and procedures. Lead and manage the internal legal team, overseeing workflow and case assignments. Coordinate litigation strategy and interface with outside counsel as needed. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, administrative rules, and internal policies. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, MOUs, and formal legal documents. Monitor legislation and provide impact analysis on agency operations. Conduct internal legal trainings and policy briefings for executive and program staff.
Requirements: J.D. and active license to practice law; must pass background check. At least 10 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or compliance roles. Proven ability to manage legal staff and oversee internal legal operations. Strong litigation experience and skilled in contract negotiation and drafting. Extensive knowledge of administrative law, government operations, and public policy. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high-pressure decision-making track record.
Salary:
$120,000$140,000 DOE + full benefits package. Note:
